Yeah, yeah, I know it's taken me ages to upload this report, but I thought it only fair to allow ASBO the opportunity to catch his breath before posting.
Most of the match is on the video below, but for those who can't be arsed watching the whole thing, here's a quick review.
Pre-match betting had the 'cheating' Czech an almost unbackable favourite. Only real interest with the bookies ws the spread bet market on how long ASBO would last before either his knees gave way or he collapsed. Most Grudge fns expected a 15 -5 point win for Tomas. The GM didn't expect ASBO to win, but knew ASBO was a reasonable basketball payer in his long since departed (and slimmer) youth.
Anyways, preliminaries over with, the guest referee, who you may recall was the pitch invader t the bowling tossed the coin and someone one, and they either elected to 'serve' or 'receive'. Tomas broke out to an early lead, nailing shots from everywhere, making ASBO look like a love sick constipated wombat. Talk in the crowd was......"Will ASBO get pantsed?"
ASBO finally nailed a shot, breaking his duck and getting his show on the rod, so to speak. Tomas kept a 2 point lead as the two behemoths of all things Grudge traded shots, misses and the odd goal, to take the score to 10-8. At this point, there was more heavy breathing going on than at the Dirty Phone Callers Association convention. ASBO chose this moment to unleash his 'surge' (at about 11.30 on the video), or in reality, bring the 'sky hook' out of retirement.
By maneuvering his arse as an Admiral reversing an aircraft carrier would, ASBO 'muscled' Tomas out of the way in order to unleash the sky hook, leveled the scores, then surged ahead to lead 13-11. Tomas was in a state of shock, this wasn't supposed to be happening. (Well, he would have been in a state of shock, but he was too knackered, so he just persevered on.)
The basket brawl had developed into a clash of two styles, ASBO with the inside muscle, and Tomas shooting from outside. The scores crept closer to the magic 15, 14-12 to ASBO, then 14-13 and 14 all, as ASBO couldn't nail the winning shot. Was the sky hook failing him in his hour of need?
A controversial call by the referee then bang, it was over, Tomas nailed an outside shot, and ASBO displayed true sportsmanship by kicking the fuck outta the ball. Final thoughts? Well, ASBO 's last words on the video pretty much sum it ll up.
